Walk through the Sakagura-dori Street in Saijo, which is one of the most famous sake places in Japan.
There are 7 breweries within 1km-area, and high-grade sake has been produced here in Saijo for a long time, since it has the ideal natural condition to brewer sake with the contrast of temperatures between daytime and nighttime, in addition to the pure water and the rice. You can enjoy the historical townscape, chimneys standing at breweries, and spots where you can learn about sake and its history here and there!
Sake produced by KAMOTSURU SHUZO is famous for being served for Obama, the 44th president of the United States, at dinner when he visited Japan in 2014.
In the museum-shop, you can also enjoy free tasting and buy souvenirs!
One of the most famous sake breweries, KAMOTSURU SHUZO newly reopened its museum-shop in 2019.
It is admission free, and some explanation movies are with Multi-language subtitles (English, French, and Chinese). Multi-languages, readable through QR code on each explanation panel, are also very helpful. And in its theater, you can watch the introduction movie at a time. (A group with more than 10 people will need a reservation in advance)
