Transport guide between Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima

The must-visit spots in Hiroshima are the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Peace Memorial Park and Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima, the most people say.

For first-time visitors, here we introduce how to get around; three major ways by using public transportations.

1. No transfers! Go via river and sea.

Please refer to the "World Heritage Route" page that we have previously introduced.

<Approximate time required> 45 minutes one way.

2. Streetcar and Ferry

From the Atomic Bomb Dome, take a Streetcar “Hiroden” Line 2 and get to Hiroden Miyajima-guchi Station.

From the port in front of Miyajima-guchi station, take a ferry to Miyajima.

<Approximate time required> 50-60 minutes Streetcar + 10 minutes Ferry.

3. JR Train and Ferry

If you want to use the Japan Rail Pass as much as possible, take a street car to a JR station (either Hiroshima station, Yokogawa station, or Nishi-Hiroshima station), and then take a JR train to Miyajima-guchi Station.

From Miyajima-guchi Station, walk to the port in the front and take a ferry to Miyajima.

<Approximate time required>
-Via JR Hiroshima station: 
20 minutes Streetcar + 27 minutes JR train + 10 minutes Ferry
  *You can also use Japan Rail Pass and take a Loop Bus “MEIPURU~PU” to get to Hiroshima Station.
-Via JR Yokogawa station:
10 minutes Streetcar + 22 minutes JR train + 10 minutes Ferry
-Via JR Nishi-Hiroshima station:
20 minutes Streetcar + 19 minutes JR train + 10 minutes Ferry

**The transportation highlighted in pink are those “Japan Rail Pass” is valid for. As for ferries bound for Miyajima, there are two operation companies, but "Japan Rail Pass" is only valid for the one operated by JR Ferries.

Fully enjoy a quiet island and the beautiful sea by bike

Etajima: is the island where the most ferries travel for from Hiroshima Port. The island where you can spend time quietly and relax, actually does exist near Hiroshima city. One of the oldest Onsen -hot spring- in Japan: Dogo Onsen (Matsuyama, Ehime)

Dogo Onsen, said to be the oldest hot spring in Japan, can be reached in about two hours from Hiroshima Port by high-speed ship and bus . If you take a ferry and a bus, it takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes; some of the ferry services are operated by a comfortable ferry called "SEA PASEO". It carries you to Ehime Prefecture in the Shikoku Region as if you were enjoying the wide Setonaikai (=Seto Inland Sea) National Park from a park on a ship.
