Hiking to fully enjoy the beauty of the valley in Hiroshima!

After you are satisfied with seeing World Heritage Sites or walking around the city, why not go on an excursion from Hiroshima for a day next?

The recommended destination is Sandankyo, a large 16km (about 10miles) -long gorge.

Put yourself completely in the natural mountain.
All you can hear is the murmuring of the river and the birds chirping.

Of course, you can choose the length of the course to hike; you can go in and out in a short time, or you can enjoy it for more than 5 hours.

Let yourself jump into the wonderful scenery drawing! -Kurobuchi-

Among the courses you can choose from, Kurobuchi is definitely worth visiting.
Kurobuchi is a place about 50 minutes on foot from the Sandankyo Main Entrance.
This is a place where you can feel the magnificence of nature, such as the cliffs that seem to stretch out from the water, the sky that can be seen between the rocks, and the scenery reflected on the calm water surface.

There you can find a Tosen (a small boat). Please try it and enjoy exploring! (service charged and normally operating during weekends and holidays.)
If you cannot see any staff at the boarding spot, pull the string set there a couple of times and the boat will come and pick you up.

You can experience such like drawing yourself in a picturesque landscape.

In addition, if the leaves changing color in autumn, you can enjoy a different landscape.

Let's go to the best highlight! -Sandandaki Waterfall-

This is a three-tiered waterfall with a total length of 30 meters (about 98 ft.).
You may want to watch it for a while, that the waterfall powerfully runs down.
Enjoy the world of sounds that you can't hear in the city.
It takes about 2 hours and a half per way from the Main Entrance of Sandankyo.

About 75 minutes by highway bus from Hiroshima Bus Center (this is NOT at Hiroshima Station!) To the Main Entrance of Sandankyo.
* For a day-trip to Sandankyo, it is a must to take the fastest highway bus (departing from Hiroshima Bus Center at 8:18AM as of June 2020). You can also take buses that are not highway buses, but in that case, it takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes per way.
Also, please check carefully, since the schedule changes on Saturdays and Sundays.

One of the oldest Onsen -hot spring- in Japan: Dogo Onsen (Matsuyama, Ehime)

Dogo Onsen, said to be the oldest hot spring in Japan, can be reached in about two hours from Hiroshima Port by high-speed ship and bus . If you take a ferry and a bus, it takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes; some of the ferry services are operated by a comfortable ferry called "SEA PASEO". It carries you to Ehime Prefecture in the Shikoku Region as if you were enjoying the wide Setonaikai (=Seto Inland Sea) National Park from a park on a ship. There is a space where you can lie down and relax, and also a space where you can enjoy chatting like in a café. (Café is not operated.) If you have enough time, I would recommend you to take ferry.
